The body scan meditation is a practice that involves mindfully scanning your body as you pay attention to sensation happening in your body. During a body scan, you mentally scan over every part of your body from your head to your toes.
The practise trains you to stay present in your body even when you don't like what you're experiencing, such as pain and discomfort.
The non-judgemental quality of body scans and other mindful practises is important for developing an accepting attitude toward present moment events and feelings.
Rather than fighting or resisting your pain or emotions and potentially making it worse by becoming frustrated with it, the practice helps you approach your body with more gentleness, gratitude and patience.
Recently I created a video series on how to learn to meditate called - ‘7 Day Journey Into Meditation - An Introduction to the Basics’. I really enjoyed putting this content together and I want to offer this series to you so that you could explore each daily focus at your own pace.
